The articles for this week give us information about interaction in class, the first article 10 Benefits of Getting Students to Participle in Classroom Discussions, mentioned the benefits of having students participate in class, I think it is important to have students interact in class and not that the teacher talks all the time, making students answering and making questions in class helps teachers to recognize if students understood the topic or not, if the students answered incorrectly teacher can recognize easily and if the answered correctly as well. On the other hand, it is important that students feel free to express their point of view too, because in this way they feel more important because their opinion matters and the teachers is asking for that also the rest of the class can learn from their classmate’s opinion too.

There are many advantages of having an interactive class in this is a good technique that teachers can apply for the better understanding of the class.

Also, the second article Increase Student’s Interaction with “Think Pairs “and “Circle Chats” was very interesting too, something that caught my attention on this article was the circle chat technique, because make students share their opinion with their classmates and brings the opportunity to listen to deafferents thoughts increasing their knowledge of the topic by listen to the different classmate’s opinions.

To conclude my reflection about the articles I want to remark that teacher should let students participate in class and not be the only one speaking this will make feel students that they opinion matters and will encourage students feel free to express themselves which will promote the better understanding of the topic

LEARNING IN A PROJECT-BASED WORK

The articles that read for this week I think are very interesting because they are relative to project works, the first article “Maximizing the benefits of project work in foreign language classroom” shows some important aspects about the work project, having students working in a project learning provides more language and students can develop their critically think working in extend periods of time to gather information.

Something that caught my attention about the article was the way the article presents the ideas for the project, because the article presents ideas for written reports, posters, videos, podcast, multimedia presentation and role plays.

The second article presented very important information as well, because continue talking about project based learning what very good project should have and what we need to know about a based project to achieve the goal with the activities for student’s language learning.

Something that I want to remember from this article is that as teachers we need to consider that the activities designed for this project gives the opportunity to students to show their authenticated style and ideas in which they can express themselves by designing their own product and managing their time at the time of presented the product.

The article for this week about twenty ideas for using mobile phones in the language classroom is one of the best I have read on this course. Something that caught my attention about the article was the amazing ideas for use mobile devices (phones, tablets, iPad) for teaching language, as teachers this is very good idea, with use f mobile dev ices students can practice what have teacher in class at anywhere, because is easier and faster for students to use mobile devices.

Nowadays is more common the use of mobile devices to everything, most of the people is familiar to mobile devices because they use them in their daily life and if as teachers we take advantage of this technology and assigned activities for they to practice the language learning will be easy get them involved in the language. Teachers can assign tasks to students for writing, listening, speaking, and reading practice, I really like the idea of using mobile devices as a tool for teaching language, because the four skills can be assigned over a mobile device task.

Something that would like to remember about the article is of course that there are also some disadvantages with the use of mobile devices for teaching language, one of the most important thig is that teachers may consider the access to mobile devices or wireless that students may have. May exist the possibility that not all students have access to a phone, tablet, IPad or may be yes but they have not totally access to wireless connection, this could be a problem if teachers do not take this into consideration, teacher cannot assign an activity if the students have not access to do it, the purpose is that all the students can have access to make easier the learning process.

Techers needs to analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of using mobile devices for teaching and this is something that we can read about the article and take the best of it.

The article for this week was very interesting because provides information about the use of software’s like wikis for the learning writing skills. I really like this article because is based on a experience of a teacher ad the use of wikis to incorporate students in learning writing skills. What caught my attention was how the teacher use this tool for writing competences and daily life, how the investigation showed how useful that the tool can be.

With the use of wikis, teachers can create them owns task for teaching, writing to the learners, also I think that is a good idea having students work in groups, because they can have more ideas and incorporate them better to solve the tasks.

 As teachers, we need to use technology to incorporate ideas for teaching English skills, people nowadays are very familiar with technology and they prefer everything online, using this kind of online tasks they get better the idea and work on it since home or on their cellphone at any time they want and is easy for teachers to monitor the student’s work.

what I learned reading this article was that is important to leave students express themselves working in groups as the article mentioned they can give their ideas and express better encouraging to provided ideas for the group activity. Using wiki students can improve their writing skills in a different way.

The articles from this week had very important information about vocabulary acquisition for new learners. Something that caught my attention was the information about dictionaries, how many dictionaries there are and how to take advantage of them. Dictionaries help students to acquire the language with the meaning of words. When we look for a meaning of a word we should for the best explanation, the article mentioned some dictionaries that can be used for the better acquisition of the meanings. What made me read more about was also how important is that as teachers we should encourage students to use the new vocabulary in context, if they look for the meaning but the teacher does not ask them to use in context the knowledge about the words will be forget easily.

what I liked about the second reading was that talked about the importance on reading for the acquisition of a foreign language the most students read the most vocabulary they get there is not point to ask students for looking new words at a dictionary just to know the meaning but they do not see it in context. With the reading that look out how can be use and how they can apply it to a conversation or writing task. Personally I thing that the best way of learn new vocabulary is reading if teachers provided some readings for students in which they can get vocabulary that maybe they never looked for in a dictionary will help to get better the new language.

The articles that I read for this week were Using the Internet in ESL Writing Instruction and Using Internet Based Children's Literature to Teach EFL both of these articles were interesting for me I really liked that gives information about reading and listening skills, with the use of technology we can encourage children to practice at home by giving them web sites and which students could fine  readings or exercises for practice their English skills, with the use of technology students may fell motivated about the learning of the language because is more attractive to practice online with exercises that has sounds with the pronunciation of the words or images that they may caught their attention too, instead of the traditional classes with some hands outs with the exercises for practice.

Something that caught my attention and most with the reading of Using the Internet in ESL Writing Instruction was the idea or an online class in which  students can have a group for interact each other by sending emails and also making them work in online projects with the web site in English in order for them to acquire, with the use of it as a daily routine, will be easier for them if they see the use of the web sites as something  that they always had made, with the use of it students  are going to feel familiar with technology and feel motivated to practice alone at home and look for other web sites for practicing and not only what the teacher gives.

Week 6 Speaking and Listening Online: a survey of internet resources

The article Speaking and Listening Online: a survey of internet resources was interesting because encourage teachers to use technology in class, with the use of computers in the class.

Something that surprised me about the idea o using computers in class is that the article mentioned many web sites in which students can practice aula and oral skills in which most of this web sites are free and allows students to interact with native and non-native speakers to, also they can receive feedback immediately for mistakes and correct them.

Technology is one big tool that we should use for teaching second language acquisition, something that made wants to read more about was the idea for using chats for teaching, the article mentioned that we can make groups of chats in which students can interact each other not only with messages if not with audios or videos too, which I think is very useful because they can interact with many others students or also native speakers that can help them improve their grammar and, listening and speaking skills, nowadays most of teenagers use  chat or instant messages for social life but if we give other use for these chats, if we encourage students to use not only or socialize if not for practice their English skills too will help them with the second language acquisition make them feel confident with the language if they use it as a daily routine this could be a good habit that will be helping them with the acquisition of the language.

Week 5

Critical Thinking and Technology

The article Critical Thinking and Technology was interesting for me because mentioned why technology influence the critical skill of students. Something that caught my attention was that the article mentioned about why people wants to learn, that people usually learned different thing unconscionably while they are growing up and that people usually learn as their necessities, for example what they are interested at is what they need to know to solve problems that concerns them at the moment. The article mentioned what preferences the students have at the time of learning, that some students learn easily by taking a class in which they can have a visual material like pictures, diagrams, files or demonstration and on the other hand that some students prefer auditory classes in which them can have written words, notations and speeches.

Something that I want to remember form the article is that people love diversity and that if we as teachers can provide that diversity to our classes that will get interested in learn the language no matter which personality students may have, also something that make me want to read more about was that we most as teachers help our students to feel comfortable and believe in their capacities that they can learn about any topic and explore their curiosity and based on that curiosity give them reasons to feel motivated to learn what we are teaching them, I think that real challenge is to make them feel motivated about our class and for that we can support our ideas for teaching using technology or any other resource that make our class different and show that diversity which make students feel motivated to learn.

WEEK 4 CALL Me… Maybe: A Framework for integrating the Internet into ELT

I am glad to read the article for this week 4, because talk about the use of internet into ELT and different web sites that teachers can use Something that impress me was that there is a framework that can be used with access to internet or without access to internet.

Something that I remember about the article that I think teachers can put into practice is the use of internet in classrooms in language learning. Nowadays technology has become increasingly popular, as teachers we should use this tool and exploit all his benefits, as the article mentioned can help for advice, for analysis for creativity, etc.

Using as an advice, we can correct or resolve any doubt about an exercise for example or word if we have not clear the correct meaning, spelling, or pronunciation, personally I usually use it for this reason, because I do not know the correct spelling or pronunciation.

Talking about analysis, internet can help to understand a topic if we had doubts about what teacher explained on class and for any reason we did not ask to the teacher, we can go on internet and look more information about the topic and check some examples too.

Also, internet can be used for creativity too, because we can find many ideas for activities that can be use in class to tech any lesson or exercises that we can add to the class to understand better the topic that is being teach.

What I really liked about technology is that are many web sites in which we can find useful information nevertheless not everyone has access to internet all the time as we wish, so the article mentioned ways to incorporate technology even if students has access to internet or not, by using mobiles phones for example, we can use mobile phones as a useful tool too.

One of the things that catch my attention by Reading the article Integrating Call into the classroom: the role of podcasting in an ESL Listening Strategies Course was the Podcasting term I did know what podcasting is before reading the article, and I really liked it because I think is a very useful tool for teaching, with the se of podcasting students can improve their listening skills and the pronunciation as well.

With the use of podcasting students could be able to practice and reproduce listening exercises at any time by their MP3 player or a mobile device and repeat the exercise as many times they want, with the podcasting teachers can leave students practice at home and get them more involve on the language. Nowadays many teachers use videos or audios to help students improve listening skills or to improve the pronunciation as well. I consider that in this article we can see that podcasting is a very good technique that as teacher we can use.

Talking about the second article Blending Technologies in ESL courses, this article mentioned is that students feel motivate to learn by the using of podcasting, by using podcasting they can have a good time listening the audio if it is an interesting conversation for example. What I think is important is that the student fell motivate to learn if we as teachers can get that in our students the acquisition of the language will be easier and the use of podcasting could be one the techniques that may help us with that goal.

Week 2: Learning autonomy process with ICTs

Something that really, I liked from this article and catched my attention was the information about the use of technology as a tool for learning process, there are many online resources that can be used to teach language and what the article encourage is to make use of it. The article encourages to use technology to help students to practice on their own, to have a routine in which they dedicated some time to practice at home and make the students be autonomous.

Something that made me want to read more, was about to promote the student’s self-evaluation and self-monitoring, with the use of technology students can exercises online and evaluate themselves, making students be independent and do not staying just hat the teacher explained on class. Students that practice on their own have a better acquisition of the language and get more interesting to learn or asked in class for any doubt.

Also, teachers can identify the students’ needs by asking their questions or doubts because they show their interesting and teacher can take advantage of it including extra information about what they have practice on. I really agree with the idea to make students be more independent and exercise and evaluated on their own, teacher needs to be guide for students and which they come and asked for many doubts but if they practice on their own and do not stay just what the teacher explain on class the learning will be easier and more complete.

My reaction about Computers and language learning: an overview


I want to start saying that this article changed my mind about learning processing, technology has increased and talking about language learning, there many ways to learn throw a computer. What I really like about the article is the information of many ideas of multimedia programs and exercises that can be found on the web for the used to language learning. something else that I want to point about the article is that encourage us as a teacher to use different techniques that can be used with the technology to teach languages and how technology can simplify us the job of teaching languages if we make a good use of it.

on the other hand, I also want to say that was a little bit confused to understand because of the references that appears on every paragraph on the article, which made got lost of the idea while I was reading.

Reading at this article I could realize how useful and important the use of technology could be for teaching a language the article pointed that technology is very good tool to teach in which we can also create our personal program our evaluations to help our students practice the language throw a computer or mobile device, by using technology to teach the practice could be also funnier if as teachers we use animations our games to help students practice while having fun.

The article remarked the importance of technology for learning process and gave ideas and reasons to take advantage of it.
